Pink Cactus Liz Wolfe has been called “the amazing eye candy photographer.” In montages that juxtapose the commonplace with the exotic, Wolfe’s work is alternatively funny, bizarre, sublime, or all three. Shot in stunning colors that burst off the page, her photographs are feasts for the eye: in one image, gleaming squid tentacles snake through a bouquet of pink roses; in another, a rosette of iridescent sardines hangs from a doll’s neck like a corsage. Wolfe also photographs straight portraiture, documenting the richness of color and line in the surrounding environment, from a field of sunflowers to a Ferris wheel. Wolfe is one of eight photographers selected by Ariel Meyerowitz to exhibit her work in “Photography Now” at the Center for Photography in Woodstock (through April 4). Her work will also be part of “Artlink 2004,” an International Young Art Program, run in association with Sotheby’s. For more information on the CPW “Photography Now” show, call (845) 679-9957.
