On the Cover Rope Line (detail)
Rope Line is taken from a series of paintings Drasler has been working on for the past 10 years about crowds and crowd dynamics. All are tinged with nostalgia—like outtakes from a 1940s tickertape parade in Times Square. Rope Line was most recently shown as part of Drasler’s one-man show “Claustrophilia” in April at the Manhattan location of the Van Brunt Gallery. (There is also a Beacon location of the Van Brunt Gallery.) The recipient of a New York Foundation for the Arts Fellowship in 1991 and a National Endowment of the Arts Fellowship in 1993, Drasler teaches painting at Princeton University.
