The 9th annual blues bash at the Nevele Resort, B2K4 again provides music, food, Keegan Ales, and more music with Little Sammy Davis and almost two dozen other smokin' acts.  The merry mood continues with all-night jams, spontaneous lobby sessions and blues vendor booths.  A perennial fave, this well-organized event comes highly recommended.

With her sophomore CD ready to drop (Afrodite on Mental Records) this downtown pop princess graces our hills with a handful of local shows.  After headlining the Woodstock Tattoo Fest last month, Coppola brings her new band (featuring local axman Johnny Wong of Wooden Rope) to Forum Lounge, the hardest working little club in show business.  (A jamming double-bill October 8 with Jeremy Baum Trio and Wet Paint.)

OREGON
OCTOBER 16.
Oregon was founded in 1970 by former Paul Winter Consort players Ralph Towner (guitar) and Glen Moore (bass) and 1978's Out of the Woods made Len Lyons' list of 101 Best Jazz Albums.  Joining Towner, Moore, and Paul McCandless on woodwinds, percussionist Mark Walker joined Oregon in 1996.  The double CD Oregon in Moscow, with the Moscow Tchaikovsky Symphony Orchestra, received four Grammy nominations.  Thanks to Jazz at Bard for another rare night of improvisation.

THE TEMPTATIONS

UPAC ain't too proud to beg for a legendary act like the Temps to fill their beautiful new seats.  The historic, renovated theater's 2004 season (including Diamond Rio, Little Feat and Bobby Vinton) is ready to rock and twist with this real live Motown revue.  With more hits than a prizefighter, The Temps present an unforgettable evening of singing and dancing in the aisles.

Sitting not-so-quietly on Mountain Rest Road, Unison Arts Center has become a world music hot spot, with regular classes in everything from swing dancing to African drumming.  Matapat offers a journey into the soul of French Canadian music with lively melodies and captivating rhythms.  This is real Arcadian (known down south as 'Cajun') roots music where high-octane jigs and reels ignite clapping, toe-tapping, and step dancing.  Bon Temps!
